About Me I am photographer, traveler and beach lover. My work focuses on the beauty that can be found everywhere in this amazing world; in the people, the places, the big picture and the delicate details. This is my journal.

ok. a volcano sizzling out a smokey two headed genie. swell lines on a stormy day, a long-necked turtle. fresh cloudy powdery snow. another long-necked turtle with a wobbly long nose. lots of lil mutated piranas. a goose going light speed with two jet engines. wait, no, a wintery afternoon on a snowy paddock in greenland with a line of oxen headin to the top of the hill for a birthday congregation. and a mountain top.
next.

I love journals. I love beautiful journals. I love to wrtie and draw and collect thoughts and ideas and memories in a journal. But I am fussy, especially when it comes to journals, I have to love the feel of the paper, the feel of the cover, the look and the smell of the journal otherwise I tend not to pick it up, not to fill it up.

Journaling is something I loved from an early age, inspired by my mothers collections of things that inspired her, and then later inspired by artists like Ed Templeton, Philip Blenkinsop and Jesh De Rox.

One of the things I was really looking forward too about moving to Europe for a small while was some extra time and the challenge to get back into regular attending to my journal, focusing some time on drawing and writing and mixing my photos with different media.
Of course this required a very beautiful journal which I could not find anywhere, I wanted soft leather, square, and a flap to hold together all the extra bits of paper that find their way between the pages..... So I made this one.

The book is a mix of cheap sketchbook paper and a collection of vintage papers - old patterns, my Dad's school books etc hand stitched together with floss. The cover is a piece of beautiful soft leather that I bought from my friends upholstery shop scrap box. I'm super happy with the result and the price ~$30.
